A Surprise
Category UX280P
One of the more surprising things about my UX is the ease of which I have adopted to using the fingerprint biometric device built into the machine.
I am not a newcomer to fingerprint scanners, I integrated Identix's BioLogon software into a Lotus Notes client solution five or six years ago, but things have come a long way baby.
The software which runs the UX scanner is called Protector Suite QL from UPEK.
Not only does it seamlessly replace the Windows GINA, it also provides a very consistent methodology to login to specific applications and websites, even if they use different username/password combinations.
Our office applications, purchased in a 'best-of-breed' way, do not have any common login controls and require a unique set of credentials each. I login to and out of seven or eight different applications all day long, and then also into and out of several different websites as well...in the past this meant tediously typing in passwords or username/password combos all day long..no more thanks to Protector Suite. Now, all I have to do is fill out the credential request once (per application) swipe my finger before submitting the credentials, select a menu option that pops up and I am done. The next time I go to that app and the login screen appears, I just swipe my finger and the software does the rest. Gotta love technology.
