Who I Am - Background

EXPERIENCE

11/2001 - Present

Employers Security Insurance Company

Indianapolis, IN

Information Systems Manager

Responsible for all facets of technology services in a $25 million annual premium workers compensation monoline insurance carrier organization.

In the first six months I spent with the organization, I reduced the company's dependence on external IT resources from a monthly expenditure of $20,000 to less then $1,500. I finalized multiple open projects, and initiated the alignment of the technology plan with the organizational goals and consolidated IT resources in a logical fashion.

In the spring of 2002, the organization was placed under the supervision of the state department of insurance (IDOI) and the IDOI suspended the company's underwriting function until financial reserves were strengthened.

During this time period I actively reduced IT expenditures, reduced staff and provided 'guerilla' management of the critical systems. I was tasked with additional responsibilities: renegoitiating equipment and office space leases; managing a complete facility move (21,000 sq feet to 8,000 sq feet); and assisting the management team in the preparation and quality assurance of actuarial reports.

In the fall of 2002, the organization was released from the IDOI's direct supervision and returned to underwriting. To support this effort I personally managed the implementation of a new policy production system and the subsisquent changes to the underwriting workflow and management reporting. The new system has been operational since May 2003.
